Seed and grains picture πŸ₯œπŸš

This is a fun and easy activity to teach children about different types of seeds and make a cool 3D picture. Not suitable for children who still put everything in their mouths!

You will need:

  • A mixture of seeds and grains. We used: rice, yellow split peas, pearl barley, chopped hazelnuts, mixed seeds, mustard seeds and fennel seeds.
  • PVA glue
  • Paper

How to make it:

  • Choose a shape/picture idea, we did flowers as they are nice and simple
  • Draw an outline of a flower
  • Cover the centre of the flower with glue and sprinkle on seeds
  • Cover the petals with glue and sprinkle on a different type of seeds
  • You can add a stalk and leaves if desired

Hints and tips:

– we just used what we had in our cupboard and was out of date but you could experiment with different colours or even dye the seeds using food colouring

– the leftover seeds can be used to make maracas

– you could be creative and draw different types of pictures and shapes, we also tried love hearts
