B for bee πŸ

This is a simple and fun insect themed craft that will also teach children letters. The B bees could be hung in the window after.

What you’ll need:

  • A piece of card
  • Yellow and black paint and brushes
  • Pen, scissors, tape
  • Googley eyes
  • Something for the wings (we used the plastic netting you get around bottles from the airport, but tissue paper would also work)
  • Elastic (or string)

What to do:

  1. Draw an uppercase letter B on the piece of card
  2. Paint yellow
  3. Wait till the paint is pretty dry then add black stripes
  4. Once all the paint is dry, cut out the letter B
  5. Add googley eyes and a smile
  6. Make a small hole in the top of the bee and thread through some elastic, tie securely
  7. Use sellotape or glue to attach the wings

Hints and tips

– Experiment with what material works best for the wings, our bottle netting looked good but was difficult to stick. Tissue or greaseproof paper might also work

– This is a great craft to help with painting as any paint over the line will just be cut away. You could also use your finger to draw the black stripes which might give the toddler more control than a paintbrush
