Ladybug stone painting πŸž

This is a fun activity using materials found outside and some paint. Plus you can use the finished product to brighten up your plant pots.

What you’ll need:

  • A flat-ish oval stone
  • Red and black paint and brushes
  • Googley eyes
  • Greaseproof paper and a glue gun for the wings (optional)

What to do:

  1. Paint the stone red and leave to dry
  2. Once dry add black spots (see note below)
  3. Once all the paint is dry add the googley eyes
  4. You can also cut 2 teardrop shapes out of greaseproof paper and attach using glue or a glue gun (optional)

Hints and tips:

– Finger painting the black spots worked better than using a paintbrush and was lots more fun

– With older children you could include patterns and numbers with the spots

– The wings aren’t really needed but we used greaseproof paper for them as it’s slightly waterproof and the ladybugs were being kept outside
