A popular activity with toddlers everywhere thatβs simple to do and gives beautiful, colourful results. It also teaches children about patterns.

What youβll need:
- Paints and paint brushes
- Paper
- Pencil
What to do:
- Fold your piece of paper in half along the long side
- Open up the paper and draw an outline of a butterfly on one half (you can also draw lines to make segments and spots)
- Paint one half of the paper then fold to duplicate the pattern on the other side
- Add a middle segment and antennas in black
Hints and tips:
– Paint one colour at a time and then fold so that the paint drys and you donβt end up with a brown gloopy mess
– Put a fair amount of paint on the brush and spread thickly so that itβll transfer to the other side
– When you fold over the paper press down on where you painted to help transfer the paint
– For slightly older children you could draw spots in each segment of the butterfly that they have to match the colour to
