Toilet roll rainbow race track πŸŽ

If you have a few spare toilet rolls lying around then this is a great activity to do with your toddler.

What you’ll need:

  • Empty toilet rolls (about 10 but depends on the size of the track you want)
  • Empty kitchen rolls or Pringle cans for supports
  • Paint
  • Sellotape and scissors
  • Small car(s)

What to do:

  1. Cut the toilet rolls in half and paint them different colours
  2. When the paint is dry start assembling the track by sticking the toilet rolls together using the sellotape, try angling them so that they curve inwards. I put sellotape down the middle of the track and along the back to make it more secure.
  3. Use the kitchen roll or Pringles can and extra toilet rolls to incline the race track

Playing with the track

Hints and tips:

– we made 2 tracks so that the cars could race but you can also make just one

– we also cut the toilet rolls in half in order to curve them easier but this may have made it less sturdy

– I found the track wasn’t overly stable, perhaps more sturdy supports would have worked better; maybe duplo or sodden struts would work better
