Foil fishes 🐟

This is a simple and fun craft that your toddler can get involved with, plus they can learn about different types of sea creatures. Also we did this craft after Easter so had lots of foil from Easter eggs.

What you’ll need:

  • Cardboard
  • Paints
  • Foil (from chocolates or tin foil)
  • Scissors and glue
  • Bubble wrap and netting (optional)

What to do:

  1. Draw the outline of several different sea creatures, we did a shark, a whale and 2 small fish
  2. Paint the sea creatures. We experimented with different painting techniques such as pressing on bubble wrap and painting through netting to give a scale like appearance.
  3. Once the paint is dry stick the foil to the fishes, my daughter loved cutting the foil herself and using her own glue stick to stick on the foil.
  4. Cut out the sea creatures (best if an adult does this step)

Hint and tips

– Be inventive; try different sea creatures and different types of painting methods and colours of foil

– Its easier for the toddler if you keep the sea creatures relatively big

– You could attach string and hang up your creatures in a cereal box aquarium or add magnets to make a Fishing game
